When I tell people that I’m Adventist their first response is, “Oh, you guys don’t eat pork, right?” People generally know that Adventists have a different diet which includes abstaining from certain meats, foods, and drinks. This dietary lifestyle stems from what is known as the “health message” in Adventist circles. Although the health message has been a source of longevity and happiness for many Adventists, its history is filled with stories of sacrifice, conflict, disagreements, and humor, which continue even to this day (click on title to hear podcast).
This week Jesse Sias and special guest Abraham Miranda take a closer look at the history behind the Adventist health message and how it has evolved into one of the more recognized aspects of Adventism.
